People Today Whom Want To Live Green

Living green has not too long ago become a very popular topic in the press throughout the globe. Industries that specialize in environmentally safe products will create new jobs and produce new energy natural resources to replace fossil fuels. But just what exactly will succeed in the Green Economy can only be decided by consumers reaction to them. So at this time it'd be good to consider this question: "Why do people go green"?(Visit Similar Article: Click The Link)

The question is something I ask myself personally and I try to figure out people's way of thinking. I realized that one of the key aspects for many people to live green is to protect the environment. Or it's possible that many people are fascinated by the latest green technologies. A third legitimate reason is that people believe that money can be saved by going green although that there is an initial expense to do it. Well, some research was done and according to the Wall Street Journal none of those answers are correct. They declare that the biggest stimulating factor for people becoming environmentally friendly is simply peer pressure. Yes that is right, good old peer pressure. An experiment was conducted where two placards were put in the lodge restrooms. These placards encouraged guests to use their bathroom towels more than once. On at least one of the placards it said "Show your reverence for mother nature". The alternative one said "Join your fellow visitors in helping to spare the environment". It turned out that 75% of guests did follow the petition to reuse the towels. But the card that obtained the best results was the second card stating to conform with the other guests. In a follow up test, the second card was improved to read "75% of guests using this room reused their shower towels". The outcomes were even better than the former. Peer pressure functions very well in this setting just like everything else in life. Telling men and women that others are undertaking something rather than just telling them to save the earth is more effective at getting everyone to be green. This study and its results indicates there are certain ramifications for companies that market these environmentally friendly products to consumers. That sensation of guilt caused by peer pressure has quite a few people taking action as a result where they would not have accomplished anything otherwise. Hence the best option to market a green product is to make the purchaser feel guilty for not doing it. No doubt they'll utilize sales techniques like in the research. I was quite suprised at exactly what the results of the study revealed. Still when I seriously look at it, it really not all that suprising. People generally, it seems, need to feel like they belong and do not wish to stand out.

So that seems to be the real main reason for people going green. Without doubt people go green for the other reasons I mentioned, but it's somewhat surprising to see lots go green as a result of peer pressure.

During my personal leisure time, I always love to prepare various other articles and reviews. If you would also take a quick look at my other article about plugs and tunnels, you need to have a look at my website.
